The stages of oral cancer: cell progression
As a cell state progresses through the stages from inflammatory to dysplastic, then to pre-cancerous or cancerous, nuclear DNA proliferates or increases, taking up more and more of the formerly healthy cell volume.
Early screening technologies are designed to detect this process in the early stages. These screenings are adjunctive to normal dental checkups and can catch the initial stages of oral cancer before it is farther along.
