Porcelain onlays
Porcelain onlays require less tooth removal than a crown in this conservative treatment. Made of an extremely strong material, onlays increase tooth strength and provide long lasting protection for your affected tooth or teeth. When fracture or decay covers larger areas of a tooth, silver- mercury fillings or plastic fillings simply won’t cut it.
Because the limited remaining structure undermines the walls of a tooth, an onlay may be suggested to support and strengthen. Onlays can often only be used to repair the portion of the tooth that is damaged, leaving much more of the natural tooth structure intact, unlike crowns.
